Citroën Xsara Coupe 1.6i 16V VTR 3d (2002/02) Owner Review

Economy
Value
New value is awful, even though they are great cars. Nearly new they are excellent.
Costs
About average (although only owned about a week!) Servicing much the same as my VW from a specialist (Never pay VW main dealer prices!)

On the road
Driving
Very firm ride. VERY sharp cornering, even at speed! Put 17" rims on to make it look and feel like it has some cohones!
Performance
Good free-revving engine when it needs to be, very smooth in normal situations. Throws you back in your seat if you're not prepared!

Living with it
Reliability
Long service intervals and mine was low mileage. All seems well built, and long warranty. My Dad's Xantia is still exceptionally smooth at 10 years old.
Image
I like it. What's more important, how you feel or how the 'baseball cap too tight' car modifiers see you? Plus, it'll beat most of them away!
Comfort
It's a coupe that's got better space use than many 5 door hatches! And everything is in a good place, except E/W buttons!

Security and Service
Security
Not particularly desireable to nick, and not been tested (yet!) hopefully, it never will be.
Service
My local Citroen garage were very polite and efficient and fairly priced, but I guess it does depend. Parts do take a little while apparently (and will be replaced with C4 in Oct 2004).

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Very free-revving, so provided it's not been thrashed, should be good for some heavy miles!
Other
Claudia Schiffer in one? No, it's already got enough plastic! But it does look good in metallic gold (who'd have thought!)
Ownership
Did you buy the car new?
Used
Would you buy the same model again?
Yes
Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?
Yes
