Citroën Xsara Coupe (2000 - 2004) 2.0HDi VTR (110bhp) 3d Owner Review
In their own words
These Older 2.0 Hdi 8v engines are by far the best produced, still going strong after 171000 miles although I did give the engine a major service 3000 miles ago,but still drove brilliantly before doing so.
Since purchasing in may 2021 and replacing the clutch with a reputable brand, this car is surprisingly good in every way,in the sense of it does the job.
It's bodywork is solid and never welded or signs of needing any, everything electric wise is fully operational and it's surprisingly quick especially at 60mph upwards ! And very frugal on the motorway 55mpg by my calculations at 65/70mph, and around 33/35 around town.ive been to Newquay Cornwall from Manchester twice in this car and contrary to the comments about seats being uncomfortable on long journeys, this isn't so in my opinion.not many left of the Coupe/Hatchback models but the one's that are have proved their worth as they are commanding £1000+ again.
I've owned two of these, this Hdi 110bhp Coupé, and a 5 door SX Hdi 110bhp before it, and both were mile munchers and have a decent 12500 service intervals, and lower tax brackets too.
If in 2022,you are looking for a no frills reliable older car with economy and good enough performance, with no major electronics and expensive parts to worry about, then I'd recommend the pre 2005 2.0 Hdi for high mileage reliability, the petrol version I personally wouldn't consider, only because I haven't experienced them.
How reliable do you find the car?
When 1st purchased clutch failed but only because it was a very cheap inferior kit.
Luk one fitted and no problems since.
