Citroën Xsara Hatchback 2.0 HDi LX 5d (2002/52) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Citroen's 'cash back' scheme reduces the cost of the car when new and cuts the depreciation costs.
Costs
3 year guarantee ensures no repair costs, fuel consumption is about 47/48 miles to the gallon (actual). Service costs are reasonable at £110 to £150, though the 3rd year service is pricey I hear.

On the road
Driving
The car is sure footed with enough 'feel' through the steering wheel to be able to hustle the car along when required.
Performance
Perfectly okay for day to day driving. I find the HDi engine has plenty of torque for driving up and down hills here in the South West and have never had a problem overtaking.

Living with it
Reliability
Hasn't let me down in over 20000 miles+
Image
Don't buy one of these to turn heads.
Comfort
Whether over long or short journeys, I find the seating and driving position comfortable for my 6ft 3inch frame. My car has never suffered the squeaks and rattles described by other reviewers.

Security and Service
Security
No alarm, but otherwise okay.
Service
Willing and helpful, though not always successful first time (they took over a year to cure an electrical fault In the wiring loom).

A fault in the wiring loom, a fault in the rear seat folding mechanism, a noisy internal ventilation fan.
