Citroën ZX Hatchback 1.4i Elation 3d (1995/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Car has held its value reasonably well considering more modern competition i.e. Renault Megane.
Costs
Cheap to insure (group 5) and cheap to run, at 70ish mph I have done Sheffield to Ealing, West London and back on £40 (full tank of fuel). Don't go above 80, ride is still good but economy plummets.

On the road
Driving
It is not a GTi, but it is the best fun you can have for a 1.4 engine. corners sooo well.
Performance
Against fair competition (Escort 1.4 / Astra 1.4) you would be first to next traffic lights!

Living with it
Reliability
Starts first time, every time. but boot lock is shocking, and not just on my car, fails to unlock on first attempt 50% of the time, but locks first time every time (I hope).
Image
Far better than Escort, Astra, Seat Ibiza and Citroen Saxo, as ZX is less common but sadly it comes second to Reanult Megane and its big sister Citroen Xsara. Better than base model as colour coded bumpers.
Comfort
Everything you need, nothing you don't. Could do with electric windows but that's being a bit picky.

Security and Service
Security
no standard security fitted, would recommend an immobilser, but I don't think this car is particularly sought after by thieves.
Service
Never needed to contact manufacturer as is so reliable.
