Citroën ZX Hatchback 1.4i Temptation 5d (1998/R) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
A lot of car for the money, but this reflects quality and image. Doesn't hold value too well.
Costs
Long service intervals on the petrol and good fuel consumption make this a cheap car to own.

On the road
Driving
Handling, out-performs the engine. A lot of engine noise at high speed, but accelerates well considering the immense weight of the car.
Performance
1.4i isn't the brightest spark, but then put any 1.4i engine inside a ZX and I doubt it would do much better.

Living with it
Reliability
My ZX has a full service record, and after 63000 miles has yet to go badly wrong.
Image
Better looking cars are available anywhere.
Comfort
Definitely more suited to shorter journeys. I get backache after 100 miles, which can't be good! Also the driving position is rather low but visibility is excellent.

Security and Service
Security
Keypad immobiliser, alarm (not standard), and steering lock. The main thief deterrent is that there are much nicer looking cars to pinch!

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Noisy at speed, but reliable and economical.
Other
Cheap insurance, cheap tax, cheap to buy, maintain and run. All this makes up for the ugly exterior. Also has a huge boot for a medium sized car.
