Citroën ZX Hatchback 1.9 TD Memphis 5d (1995/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Boring image means it's a bargain.
Costs
Surprisingly good. Main dealers are expensive, but always seem to have obscure bits in stock. Bills start to mount over 120k. Radiators tend to go every 3 yrs or so, glow plugs every 80k. Still get over 55mpg though.

On the road
Driving
Excellent drive for it's age. Only slightly heavy clutch and steering (even though it has PAS) and a slow gearbox count against it.
Performance
Given it's age and the fact it's a diesel pretty impressive where you need it most. Gutsy performance, with no electronic nonsense to spoil the delivery.

Living with it
Reliability
Not bad. I change the oil every 3k and now done 120k. Radiators go every 3yrs, electrics can be irritating and flaky, but not major systems just taco reading or idiot lights etc. Otherwise just consumables in the last 70k
Image
If you buy a car for it's image, more fool you. :) There are some truly awful cars out there with a wonderful image. Still, a fool and his money...
Comfort
Not that comfortable, though previous car (Sierra) was exceptional in this regard.

Security and Service
Security
Central locking is infra red not radio so a pain (you have to point it like a video remote) remote locking also a bit flaky sometimes and has failed on when trying to lock from the passengers door.
Service
Expensive but thorough
