Citroën ZX Hatchback 1.9 Turbo D Volcane 5d (1996/N) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
It's basically a Peugeot 306 and has equal qualities in every aspect.
Costs
Fuel economy is very good. Parts aren't that expensive either.

Driving
Ultimate handling. The best car I've ever driven. I thought the new MK4 Vauxhall Astra and Ford Focus were a pleasure to drive, but the ZX beats them both.
Performance
I had a 1.4i and that shifted. I'd love to drive a 2.0i 16v. The 90bhp 1.9TD has similar acceleration to a Cavalier SRi or XR3i and you can still have 400 miles out of a full tank of diesel.

Living with it
Reliability
Items fall off every now and again and some bulbs have blown. But other than that, no serious faults.
Image
The Volcane models really look the part and can look awesome next to a modern top of the range sportscar. But the ZX's sister - the 306 using similar engines looks a little more modern and more respectable.
Comfort
Very comfortable, with good headroom.

Security and Service
Security
Not the best for security, though immobilisers can be of use.
