Dacia Duster Estate (2013-2018) running costs and reliability
Miles per pound (mpp)
Fuel economy
- Unsurprisingly, the diesel is the most economical
- It also emits the least amount of CO2
- Dacias have proved themselves to be reliable
What are the running costs?
The Dacia Duster is surprisingly cheap to run. It’s no more expensive than any of its contemporary rivals. The most economical engine is the 110hp 1.5-litre diesel engine mated to the six-speed manual gearbox. It has a claimed combined economy of 64.2mpg in two-wheel drive form, so expect to get around the mid-fifties in real-world driving.
The most eco-friendly engine in the Dacia Duster range is the also 110hp diesel. It emits 115g/km of CO2, but even with the EDC automatic gearbox it emits 116g/km, so you don’t have to compromise between manual and auto.
Reliability
The Mk1 Duster has proved itself to be a dependable little car. Just make sure you find a car that’s been well-maintained. These were designed to be cheap, throwaway cars when they were new, so owners haven’t always kept to the proper servicing schedules.
