Dacia Sandero Stepway (2013 - 2021) Comfort TCe 90 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
This vehicle, with the 0.9L 90HP engine is just the sweet spot. The insurance costs are low, but the vehicle is light and the behavior on the road is just amazing. From utility perspective, you do get the same benefits like most of the miniSuvs. you do get everything you need. In comparison with the rest of the mini suvs, the tires are a bit lower profile, almost all are R16, most are 60R16 or 65R16 on the other hand the stepway has 55R16. And in comparison to the most of the other mini suvs this has better acceleration. it just Behaves, and it has better ground clearance than most, but that doesn't make it an off road vehicle. The extra clearance comes in handy for high pavements and parking lot limit-bars. It is there just to take your worries away, whether on going down from that ugly high pavement you will scratch the bottom of the car or not. The low inertia turbo is not so low on inertia, but it does it's job phenomenly well, you do get the extra power when you need it most, so doing a pedal to the metal for overtaking, or the extra boost you want to have on going up a mountain, you do appreciate the power. As I said before the crub weight is not high, so the turbocharged 90HP perform very decently. If you haven't driven a turbocharged petrol before, have in mind that even though the maximum torque is somewhere around 2100, if you want to accelerate like a maniac you would need to pedal till over 5000RPM prior to shifting gears, which of course hits the fuel economy hard, but it is not often that you need this, the minisuv has more than enough power to even drive it in the 1800-2500 range constantly. I can definitely samy that the engine likes being driven on higher RPMs. It is bad for the fuel economy to even drive it on very low RPMs, like around 1000, which is totally posible at least with the older non turbo clios, but that doesn't help the economy, being too far from the max torque makes it constatly battle the weight of the vehicle, and therefore wasting a lot of petrol. It even has an ECO mode, but I have never tried it, I like the way it behaves without it too much to even dare trying the ECO. Another thing I do like a lot is the media system (without the LCDs) it automatically resumes the previously played thing (for instance a spotify playlist) and the microphone is good enough that no one has ever complained, and I do make quite a lot of phone calls during drive. there are 4 speakers, 1 on each door, and the sound quality is also very good. I expected only 2, 10 watt speakers like other manufacturers do, but no, they actually did a good setup here. The start and stop is good, it hasn't failed me, One other thing to note is that the seats are spacious, and in a very stylish design, but it comes at the cost of not so big boot space.
