Daewoo Nexia Saloon 1.5 GLXi 4d Auto (1996/P) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Almost excellent (air con plus electrics except mirrors.)
Costs
Service and running costs are good. Auto slightly heavy on petrol in town (average 23-29mpg). Good on non-urban runs (between 35-45mpg).

On the road
Driving
Good enough - auto gearbox makes it fairly smooth and quiet.
Performance
Good. Cruises well between 70-85mph. Very good boot space and handy ski carrier facility via rear seat arm rest system.

Living with it
Reliability
Has never broken down and has driven to/from France and Spain 4 times to date.
Image
Better than an Orion / Escort. Saloon is definitely better than Nexia hatchback. Surprisingly, most passengers have been impressed by styling and interior comfort.
Comfort
Excellent. Who gives 4 electric windows, ABS, air con, airbag, adjustable / power steering, remote central locking/alarm, auto g-box, aux lights, height adjustable seat and quality stereo at this price?

Security and Service
Security
Adequate, but I garage my car and don't expect it to be target for serious car thieves.
Service
Adequate. They dealt with a recall for the rear suspension efficiently.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
None (Cam belt and pre-tensioner were renewed at 44k miles - 4k later than maker's spec, but no problem).
Other
Air con failed after about 4 years from new, but may have been due to previous neglect.
