Economy
Value
The basic model includes power steering, central locking, power mirrors, four speaker radio-cassette, dual airbags, seat belt pretensioners and a system which, in a serious impact, unlocks the doors and switches on the hazard flashers and internal lights.
Costs
Insurance costs and fuel economy are respactable.

Driving
The driving position is very good with excellent visibility. The handling is acceptably neutral for front wheel drive with understeer evident only on wet surfaces only. The steering wheel is light with a remarkably tight turning circle.
Performance
Weighing only 990 kg, those 1.5 litres are more than enough to give it adequate performance. It's an engine that loves to rev and the gearing is short and light. 0-60 is clocked in about 12 sec and the top speed is 103mph.

Living with it
Reliability
Build quality is good. The Charade components are well proven and Daihatsu is known for its reliable engines. Being a Japanese-manufactured product means reliability is a priority.
Image
This car has been designed to liberate maximum interior room. It looks different from a typical estate car, but it is not a true MPV either. It's just the Grand Move.
Comfort
The Grand Move's great strength is in passenger comfort. Space is a key ingredient together with relatively soft suspension, good all-round visibility and the quietness. The driving position is comfortable and well planned.

Security and Service
Security
Security is not too bad with a central locking and an engine immobiliser.
Service
It depends on the specific dealer.
