Summary
What does this car say about you?
Different.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They ask what it is? After a trip in it they think it is excellent and amazed at the roominess inside.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Definitely - because it is different, well built, reliable, cheap to run and not many about.
What are you likely to buy next?
Don't know. It is a pity that Daihatsu do not market in the UK any longer.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£6,000
When did you buy the car?
March 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
I think so - as the dealer took my low mileage '58 plate Land Rover Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE auto in part exchange - gave me more than any LR dealership. The first car that I have bought and received a large amount of money back in return!
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Due to retirement, no real need for two 4x4s for my wife and I - required a smaller vehicle with easy access and plenty of room all round to carry out voluntary work and something a bit different from the norm.
What was the dealer like?
Excellent - nothing too much trouble. The Materia was very well presented when collected.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Great - handles very well at speed on motorways or country roads - very nippy in town driving.
What's it like to park?
Easy to park due to its smallish size - has rear parking sensors as standard plus its 'short' bonnet at the front.
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
No.
What's most practical about your car?
The room inside for a small car. The wide doors front and rear for ease of entrance and exit for elderly passengers.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Rear seat back and forth adjustment - for either more boot space or more leg room for rear passengers.
