What is miles per pound?

Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 34 - 47 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Fuel consumption is average – the 1.8-litre manages 38mpg, while insurance costs are reasonable with the highest a group 8. Dodge servicing isn’t the cheapest around while the intervals between maintenance are short (9000 miles for the diesel) compared to other family hatchbacks.

There are no low-emissions models in the range – the greenest engine is the 2.0-litre diesel which emits 160g/km of CO2 and averages 47mpg.

Dodge is an unknown quantity within the UK although its co-brands – Jeep and Chrysler – don’t perform too badly. The petrol engines are built in a factory co-owned with Hyundai and Mitsubishi (and the diesel is provided by Volkswagen) so mechanical reliability should be pretty good.
