Ferrari 599 GTB Coupe (2006 - 2012) GTB Fiorano F1 2d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I purchased this car thru my long time Ferrari Lambo mechanic independant shop here in San Diego. If you are in So. California I recommend seeing Gary Bobileff for the best pre purchase evaluation you will ever get. This care belonged to a client of his that regularly upgrades his Ferraris as new versions are produced... I paid a very reasonable amount of money for it..In fact now 7 plus years later it is still worth nearly what I paid for it in 2013...I always strive to buy the very best examples and am willing to pay a premium from a known owner and maint. records. He placed aftermarket wheels on this car to make it his....and Im OK with that as they are top quality Italian forged wheels and do look great on the car...I have been fortunate to have owned many high end Italian cars over the last 40 years...both vintage and fairly modern. I can absolutely say this has been the biggest bang for the buck in recent history. The performance blows me away every time I get in it...I upgraded the stereo to a newer technology Bluetooth compatible receiver...that fit perfectly in the incomprehensible silly unit that come with the car....Good God....NOBODY I have ever met can tell me how this stock radio works...a nightmare. Only other complaint from me and every honest Ferrari owner I know is the awful "sticky button" coating all over the interiors of any semi modern Ferrari...TRULY AWFUL....and stupid expensive to have striped and redone...Also some interior squeaks when the passenger seat is empty....Im annoyed by squeaks and rattles. OK...but in realistic terms....OMG what a GREAT GT....we do a yearly 1500 mile charity rally and this car is absolutely in its element on those wide open highways thru Montana and New Mexico.... This car gets a YEARLY SERVICE done regardless of mileage...$1500 cost thats it.... New battery every 4 years...new tires every 4 years....OK...one quirk...the alignment on these cars is critical....and must be done by a knowledgeable professional ... the stock setting create understeer and "twichy" steering....Once Gary at Bobileff Motorcars adjusted and caster and camber it was night and day different. Much less sensitive to the slightest touch of the wheel....Oh...One more tip off the day....there are a LOT of computers and other parasitic energy drawing bells and whistles that will flatten your battery to zero if undriven for more than a couple of weeks,,,,And the battery cut off switch in the trunk doesn't seem to make a difference...SOOOOO.....Add a charge harness and keep it pluged in with a small trickle charger in the trunk and you will be good to go....( giving you pearls here) THIS IS THE EVRY BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK CAR in my opinion in Ferraris lineup.....One other thing....NEVER USE IT IN AUTOMATIC MODE.....It sucks and will fry your clutch in no time....Dont do it....EVER....Just use the F1 paddles and you will master it in no time..... This is an early F1 tranny single clutch...so it was leading edge new technology in 2006....It is bulletproof so far...but I knew how to use it properly....Now...so do you....Id buy another one... in a heartbeat.....if anything serious ever happened to mine.
How reliable do you find the car?
2 fuel pump replaced...very reasonable....one was leaking but mechanic suggested I replace both which I did....those are the only repairs required in over 19000 miles of use...tires...battery...normal time related replacements.About their car
