Fiat 500 Electric Convertible verdict
Should you buy a Fiat 500 Electric Cabrio?
Now powered by electricity, this small Italian city car has even more going for it than ever thanks to its abundance of ever-ready torque and agile handling, combined with quiet-running and complete lack of gearbox faff. As a convertible the 500 works very well indeed – it’s pleasingly noise free with the roof up or down and retains the iconic silhouette of the hatchback.
For ease of use the 500 has reached a new high point – you simply get in, turn it on and press ‘D’. The remaining range is super clear in the colourful cluster behind the wheel, and the sat-nav displays how far you can get before needing to charge on the map.
From launch there was no city range or base-spec convertible model so you will pay a slight premium for the lack of roof, but this is still a very affordable car, particularly when you take the available battery range into account.
