In their own words

I have owned my 2008 Fiat 500 1.4 Sport from new and have no intention to change it for another car. The ride can be a bit harsh on the standard 16” alloy wheels but is better when I change to 14” steel wheels with winter tyres for the cold weather. It has been generally reliable though I have had to have the lower suspension wishbones replaced due to play in the balljoints. The car is characterful and cheeky, I tend to spend most of the time in normal driving mode only pressing the sport button occasionally but when I do press it the increased throttle response is entertaining. The car is reasonably economical, getting about 35mpg while commuting, on a motorway journey it is quite easy to get over 50mpg. Equipment is probably average these days, the car has air conditioning, electric windows, remote central locking and a USB socket but is from an era before touchscreens. There seem to be plenty of airbags and other safety features which fortunately I haven’t had to test. All in all I would recommend the Fiat 500 to potential buyers, though the early models like mine are prettier than the current version and the six speed gearbox in my car is no longer available as it only came with the 100 horsepower 1.4 engine.
