Fiat Cinquecento Sporting 3d (1996/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Motoring on a show-string budget works out dearer than you think!
Costs
Fiat... It's really a cheap lego kit and glue is needed in large quantities to hold it all together. Lots of minor faults make it expensive to run.

On the road
Driving
Great fun to drive... love throwing the car into corners... Great response! Nippy little fella!
Performance
That 1.1 engine is enough for one person, but don't fill it up with people - you'll end up being overtaken by buses and nannies with zimmer frames.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Trusted it as much as I trust Bush... bring out those hedge trimmers!
Image
OMG... a box on wheels? Can that have image? Great if you're 17!
Comfort
It comes with seats and a sunroof... I'll give it credit there! Small boot, but it's a box - what more can you expect?
-
Security and Service
Security
Comes with alarm/immobiliser as standard, but really... who would wanna steal the damn thing?
Service
Slow servicing... 3 weeks waiting to have the car looked at for anything... and then they over-charge you! Fiat, sort it out!

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Lawnmower engine on steroids!
Other
Fiat... Little things go wrong with the car and costs add up, but for the 1000-2000 price range, there is nothing that comes closer than a 1.1 Sporting... alloys, sunroof, sport seats, remote central locking, sports exhaust. Overall it's an ok car.
