Fiat Coupe 16V 2d (1995/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Expensive to insure and the numerous spare parts you have to buy to keep the thing on the road only adds to the financial woes this car imposes upon the pocket.
Costs
Bought for £4800 in January 2002 and sold for £1900 when the engine spectacularly let go on me just 6 months later. What an expensive few months that was!

On the road
Driving
When the Fiat was on song, it handled and drove beautifully. However, this was a rare state of events since it was quite simply so unreliable.
Performance
Despite having over 140bhp, far from happy with outright acceleration or indeed top-end go. Embarassed by Ciroen Saxo VTR/Ss.

Living with it
Reliability
Can you have a NIL rating ? No wonder Fiat is seemingly being bought out by GM if this is the best it can do. Typical Italian Friday afternoon special.
Image
Only redeeming feature? However, severe lack of street cred when you're motionless at the side of the road with your engine trailing behind you in numerous pieces.
Comfort
Hard suspension, but fair trade-off for outright grip and chassis dynamics. Car too comfortable though happily sitting at side of road. Needs some Viagra to get going again ?

Security and Service
Security
No problems, though often wished someone would take the bloody thing and end the misery. Hardly an ideal get-away car though, as refused to get up and go.
Service
Judging from the totally disinterested and couldn't-care-less Fiat main dealers, Coupe obviously as popular as Ronaldhino at a David Seaman appreciation Society. Or were they just embarrased by it?

Erm... blew up on me actually. Perhaps trying to return its oily bits from whence they came.
