Summary
What does this car say about you?
It says I’m an enthusiast. That I like cars. It’s unusual, old, rare, good-looking, and relatively fast.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They love it. It looks fun and is completely impractical.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Probably. It’s a lot of style and speed for not much money. If only it handled a little better.
What are you likely to buy next?
A Porsche 944. The Fiat Coupé is a stopgap until I can afford to get back to Porsches.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£1,500
When did you buy the car?
February 2015
Did you get a good deal and why?
I got great deal. The car had a full engine-out rebuild from top to bottom and was in perfect mechanical condition. Because the bodywork was maybe only 60%, the car was still cheap.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
It was offered for sale by a very reputable specialist garage.
What was the dealer like?
I bought as a private sale from the owner of an independent specialist garage. He is an expert on the model, which gave me confidence to buy.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
The Coupé 20VT is still a relatively fast car, even today. It’s great fun to drive and looks idiosyncratic. Built for country roads, but cruises happily on motorways. For a FWD car, it’s surprisingly nimble.
What's it like to park?
Terrible. Although it’s a small car, it also has a poor turning circle which leads to parking issues.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
The clutch slave cylinder failed a month after purchase. This is common on the model, and was easily replaced by me.
What's most practical about your car?
It just works. Starts every time, never loses any fluids, and runs beautifully. The engine is in prime condition.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Fully functioning air-con! I have never owned a car with working A/C before.
