Other Fiat Panda (2004 - 2011) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Having seen countless people my age driving around in Corsas and Polos, owning the Fiat Panda has been a breath of fresh air.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Family and friends all admire the cars smart interior, although they do complain sometimes about a lack of space in the rear. Many also comment on the cars 'face', the Panda certainly has a cheeky look about it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I would definitely consider another Panda, thanks to its reliability, affordability, and the fun that can be had in it. I would, however go for the 100hp model, as the 1.1 Active does sometimes feel a little left behind in the performance stakes.

What are you likely to buy next?

Being 6'2, I would go for a larger hatchback, perhaps a Fiat Punto, or a Volkswagen Golf.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £2,300

When did you buy the car?

    January 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

Considering the cars low mileage, and its condition, I felt the price was fair. I was also offered a free MOT test with the car, and a new replacement battery.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I bought the car as it's in the lowest insurance group, is cheap to tax, and benefits from excellent fuel consumption.

    What was the dealer like?

The dealer was friendly and helpful, not at all like the pushy salesmen you sometimes encounter.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Being a 1.1, the Panda will never win any prizes for speed. However, it's quick enough for everyday driving, and can hold its own on motorways and dual carriageways alike. There's lots of fun to be had on the back roads as well. Throwing the Panda around bends is very entertaining, even though it does suffer from some body roll.

    What's it like to park?

Thanks to its small dimensions and light steering, the Panda will fit in even the tightest of parking spaces. The 'City' mode for the steering is a godsend when driving in the city, as it makes the steering even lighter.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Some routine jobs have had to be done, such as brake pads and tyres, but otherwise the car has been very reliable. It has never failed to start, and is easy to maintain.

What's most practical about your car?

The cars small size and light steering are very practical. I do lots of driving around town, so being able to quickly and easily swing the car into any parking space is very useful indeed.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Being a basic car, the Panda doesn't have too many gadgets to choose from. However, the electric windows are a welcome luxury, and the factory fitted speakers are surprisingly good, especially when used with a good after market head unit.
