Fiat Punto Hatchback GT 3d (2001/X) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Paid £4k for a '97 P in 2001. Reasonable price.
Costs
Fiat dealer prices are a bit out of order.

Driving
Good car to drive. Does roll quite a bit if pushed (and that's with stiffened suspension). Performance makes up for the comfort shortcomings.
Performance
Can't fault it for acceleration. Very quick indeed.

Living with it
Reliability
As other reviewers have found out, the rear suspension is expensive if it fails. Trailing arms are the main culprits. Have also had an ECU problem, which costs (from FIAT) £700. Get a warranty!
Image
Still looks good for its age.
Comfort
Adequate comfort, but if I wanted to drive a sofa, I'd do that! The performance outways this.

Security and Service
Security
Fiat alarm/immobiliser. Not sure what other reviewers find wrong with this.
Service
Fiat really have to sort their dealer service out - it's poor.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Faulty ECU, throttle switch. Nothing else.
Other
Eats tyres!
