Fiat Punto Hatchback GT 3d (1998/S) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Very high performance Punto. Plenty of power on tap and high equipent spec. I bought mine 12 months ago with 32k miles and FSH for £4000.00 - absolute bargain.
Costs
Dirt cheap to run, unless you constantly use the Turbo. I have covered 13k miles in 12 months and only had to replace the radiator. Fiat can be expensive.

Driving
You can have so much fun with the Punto. Suspension is a little bouncy. Mine has the aftermarket Abarth fitted by local Fiat dealer - does make quite a diffrence with the handling.
Performance
Performance is great from a 1372cc engine. Returned good MPG also.

Living with it
Reliability
My Dad always drummed in to me "look after your car and it will look after you". I have never been let down by my Punto - always starts first time.
Image
Still looks modern and aerodynamic for a car launched in 1993.
Comfort
Seats could be a bit more supportive. My car has leather interior which gets hot in summer and cold in winter. My problem, not Fiat.

Security and Service
Security
Never had any issues. Standard with Fiat alarm and immobiliser.
Service
Fiat tends to be rather expensive on parts and service. I service my car every 4500 miles with fully synthetic oil.

It's a pity they have stopped making them. I have owned 3 and would not think twice about buying another.
