Ford Capri 1.6 Laser 3d (1986/C) Owner Review

Economy
Value
I bought mine for euro 3000 and it came with a full and religiously documented service history.
Costs
Parts were v. cheap as was labour as most garages will amost pay you to allow them to work on such a sweet motor, but fuel economy wasn't great, she loved to drink the petrol although my heavy right foot didnt help that much either!

On the road
Driving
Excellent, held like it was on rails, although could be skitterish on the wet (that made it all the more fun).
Performance
EXCELLENT! acceleration was swift and consistant.

Living with it
Reliability
Started every time no problems!
Image
Proper ghetto fabulous pimpin' style! Talk about a headturner, all age groups seemed to respect and love this car!
Comfort
What a shame they don't make cars like this anymore, the ultimate in plush retro cool! all it was missing was leopard print car seat covers and a fluffy dice! the big bus style steering wheel is pretty nifty and the retro dials.

Security and Service
Security
None I never got around to buying an alarm, I found a big padlocked chain on the steering wheel sufficed.
Service
Ford were quoting astronomical prices, spurious parts were much cheaper as was labour in my local garage, where all the lads trained in Capri's and Mk 1 escorts - they knew the car inside out!

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Good old carburettor, such an easy car to work on, servicing it could me done by yours truly, only the condensor went (euro4 to replace).
Other
The only major thing really was I had to get the clutch, needed replacing (euro220 including labour) and back brakes (euro80 inc. labour) not bad at all for an 18year old car!
Ownership
Did you buy the car new?
Used
Would you buy the same model again?
Yes
Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?
