Ford Escort Estate 1.6 Si 5d (1994/L) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Good value. Same as any other Ford. Cheaper than most.
Costs
Now she's 7 years old she is starting to cost more. Clutch, Steering rack, Cambelt.
-
On the road
Driving
Quite a harsh ride. Comfortable on short journeys, tiresome on long.
Performance
Could do with a bit more umph! Doesn't live up to its Si badge.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Not bad, but costs more as she gets older. Keep on top of the servicing, especially oil and plugs.
Image
Estate has the workman look. Not bad though. A few people double take because of the sporty touches.
Comfort
Rear is bad for adults, teenagers start to feel the crush... Youngsters are okay. Front is average.
-
Security and Service
Security
Alarm and immobiliser. Flashing indicator does deter. Saying that, mine was broken into and the alarm did not sound.
Service
Cheap parts and plentiful.
