Ford Escort Hatchback 1.3 5d (1993/K) Owner Review

-
Economy
Value
Cheap and cheerful in every respect.
Costs
Nothing major. Most bits are fairly cheap.
-
On the road
Driving
The 1300cc engine is too underpowered to be any fun in the national speed limits, and it's not a car that's meant to be driven in anger. Or the wet. It's more than adequate as an urban run around though.
Performance
Everything you need for town driving, but don't expect more than 80 on the motorway. Overtaking can use up quite a lot of straight road.
-
Living with it
Reliability
It starts, it runs.
Image
It's ok, but you wouldn't enter one for a beauty contest.
Comfort
Comfortable for tall drivers/ passengers and quite good for long trips.
-
Security and Service
Security
No central locking and had front offside lights stolen outside a Travelodge when the car was left for a short length of time.
Service
I haven't used main agents.
