Ford Escort Hatchback 1.4i LX 5d (1994/M) Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
-
Economy
Value
Fairly cheap in its class.
Costs
Insurance cheap. Where possible take car to independent garage, Ford dealer will mug you for your money!
-
On the road
Driving
No PAS, steering is heavy whilst parking.
Performance
Very sluggish and underpowered. Pulling away from a junction onto a roundabout can be a dangerous proposition. The 1600 is probably more suitable for the size of the car.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Silly minor niggles. Interior dashboard illumination failed. Poor electrics.
Image
Not bad but the Escort is common and dated now especially since the introduction of the Focus in 1998.
Comfort
Ride is fairly quiet. Seats can be a bit uncomfortable on a long journey.

Security and Service
Security
Immobiliser only. Have fitted a steering lock for extra protection.
