Ford Explorer 4.0 North Face 5d Auto (2000/W) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Good second hand buy. Fully loaded (apart from the clock which is bizarre).
Costs
Can be expensive to run but then it's not a Fiesta. Still get mid 20s around town and with the cruise on a trip we can get top 20s early 30s mpg. Sevicing about £120 standard. Second one we've had and no major outlays.

Driving
Effortless to drive, huge power, suspension a little hard. Swallows miles easily and a lot of fun. Surprises a lot of other vehicles.
Performance
Fantastic power when you want it. Very fast off the lights which surprises a lot of supposed sports cars. Powers effortlessly up any hill and you don't know you're towing anything.

Living with it
Reliability
No major problems, worn bushes on suspension but I'd expect it after the mileage.
Image
Depends on what image you are trying for(!) It's a 4x4 built as a 4x4 rather than a saloon trying to be a 4x4 (Frontera). Let down by press who seem to want to run it down and Ford who let it down.
Comfort
The seats are possibly the worst part. The electric gubbins under the front seats restrict the foot room under neath for passengers in the back and you can't get the headrests in the front anywhere near you head.
