Summary
What does this car say about you?
I wouldn't have bought a huge, American petrol 4x4 if I was bothered what other people think.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Apparently I want to destroy the planet and kill all their children!
Would you buy this car again and why?
Possibly, but only if I had spare cash for possible repairs. The overall package is very good. When things go wrong they can be very expensive.
What are you likely to buy next?
Already replaced it with a Daihatsu Sirion 4trak when I had enough of it letting me down.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£6,495
When did you buy the car?
September 2005
Did you get a good deal and why?
I got a good deal at the time with mileage and condition being better than the others I looked at. Also the LPG conversion was worth £1800 on its own.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I had a diesel 4x4 which cost a fortune to run and I found this Explorer which was LPG converted so cost a lot less to run but had a big V6 and a lot of comfort.
What was the dealer like?
Didn't buy from a dealer.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Sometimes slow to kick down but other than that very good. Taken some hot hatches by surprise!
What's it like to park?
Not as bad as you'd think, visibility is very good. Obviously sheer size can cause problems, especially in multi-storeys.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Front shocks, auxiliary drive belt and tensionners, viscous fan, timing chain guides and a component of the LPG system (twice).
What's most practical about your car?
Massive boot will swallow anything you want to put in it.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Nothing specific, just the combination of lazy V6 engine, auto gearbox and comfy seats.
