    Costs

I got 15MPG Urban, 26 Extra Urban if I was lucky, The Ford Carburettor was rather old and worn and I had a very heavy right foot.

  • On the road

    Driving

    2 out of 5 2.0

Had to learn 3 pedal driving early on, other wise it would stall when breaking with a cold engine. Handling was not great but was better that some (e.g. mk2 Astra).

    Performance

    1 out of 5 1.0

Not its best point. Only thing I out accelerated at the traffic lights was another 1.1 mk2 Fiesta but it had alloys, a big exhaust, and a body kit to slow it down.

    Reliability

Let me down once in 2½ years, but it was –12deg C and the battery did not have enough volts to turn over the engine.

I believe this was why I did not have any security problems.

    Comfort

    1 out of 5 1.0

I'm 6' tall and could fit fine but comfort was very poor, I had to rest my Left leg over the gear stick in 4th on long journeys to stop it ratting very loudly.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    1 out of 5 1.0

I invested in a stop lock.

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

Ford Dealers generally had the cheapest parts, But fit them yourself.
