I had owned a MK1 Fiesta 1300S for almost five years. It was my first car and had given me so much pleasure, mainly due to it's chracterful looks and rough and ready 1300cc crossflow engine. However, it was time to own what I had always regarded as the ultimate mk1 fiesta - the XR2!

What's it like to drive?

Fantastic. I have owned several decent driver's car's, including a Puma (1.7i) and a MK2 MR2 GT; this is up there with the best. The fact that you can hear and feel everything and the way the engine pulls enthusiastically contribute to a raw, engaging driving experience- all for relatively little money.

What's it like to park?

Very easy.

Have you had any problems with the car?

When I bought the car it had already done a hefty 109,000 miles. Despite this, at first it was very reliable, only little, cheap things such as clutch and throttle cables needed seeing to. However, after approximately 130,000 miles it became expensive to keep on the road due to the need to replace major components - including the engine!However, I couldn't complain as the car was over 20 years old and that's part of owning a classic - right?!

What's most practical about your car?

A useable everyday car, despite it's age.

1600cc in a light fiesta!
