Ford Fiesta 1989
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

You can't beat the price of these cars. "Cheap as chips".

    Costs

Cheap to run, cheap to insure, cheap parts, what more can i say! The main problem is rust, primarily the petrol filler cap area and wheel arches.

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Not the best. Comfortable ride. I have used my for many long journeys across the country 5+ hours per trip and the car was brilliant, little slow but did the job!

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

I've the injection version of the 1.1, which for some reason is very nippy. Mine is standard all round and has a small punch of power in first and second. it cruises perfectly at 85/90, thanks to the fifth gear!

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

I have this car for 3 years and have not had a single problem with it (touch wood!) Other than the obvious things like changing tyres and wiper blades. Mine has started first time everytime! I'm very pleased/suprised about the fantastic reliability.

Not great. Every other person seems to have one, but what can you expect for the money you pay for it. It's not a Porsche after all!

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

Soft suspension (lots of body roll unfortunately) and comfy seats. Drives like a car from a much higher price range.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Came with immobiliser when I bought it. It's never been stolen, so it must be pretty secure!

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very good, and from what I have experienced, not much more expensive than your typical 'jack the lad' mechanic!

  • Problems and Ownership

Rear windscreen motor or interior stalk is iffy. Works when it wants to!
