Ford Fiesta 1989
  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Cost me little, and not bad value for money for what it is.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Parts are cheap but Mr Ford overcharges for servicing. Since then I have learnt to service the car on my own and have saved mega pounds.

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

Steering is quite positive. Braking OK. Pleasant enough on a long drive. Lots of visibility. Can't see the top of the speedometer, though, for the steering wheel!

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Some accelaration when required, but not at higher speeds.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    2 out of 5 2.0

The engine has been trouble free. The front steering ball joints both required replacing before 20k, costing me £200. The body is prone to rust and I have had to get bodywork done on the car.

I don't look hard, I don't look mean, in my granny driving machine.

    Comfort

    2 out of 5 2.0

Plastic everywhere, but what do you expect from Ford?

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Imobiliser and alarm and double locking. But who would want to knick this car?!

    Service

    2 out of 5 2.0

Over charge (£90 for an interim service: oil and oil filter!)
