Ford Fiesta 1989
  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not a lot of motor for the price. Base models are missing creature comforts such as c/l or e/w.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Second hands parts are available but rare. Zetec components can become expensive.

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

Great little drive for the money, but missing that 'va va voom'.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Quite nippy. Very smooth acceleration. Whines considerably when pushed.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    3 out of 5 3.0

No problems if looked after but, like all Fords, they tend to suffer problems in those 'can't see' areas. Don't trust one without a genuine service history.

    Image

    4 out of 5 4.0

Rounded shape more attractive than XR2i 'brick'. Not as stylish as the three door, but does not have the 18 year old baseball cap image, as the XR2i does.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Excellent seats, however completely lacking in any adjustment. No electrics as standard, sunroof opening awkward, rear seats cramped.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Does not have the XR2i image, so safer. Comes with a basic alarm (mine dosn't work). Otherwise, the same as all Fiestas, fit as much protection as you can afford.

    Service

    5 out of 5 5.0

Ford has allways had an excellent parts service and one of the lowest priced main dealers.
