Economy
Value
Cannot give fault here. A gem for the money
Costs
Low running cost, parts cheap, heavy on oil

On the road
Driving
Fantastic car to drive, gives good feedback to driver, PAS would be nice around town though
Performance
Good as standard, mine was lowered, recommend K&N filter which livens it up a bit. You need to keep it clean though or it will affect drivability

Living with it
Reliability
Had a lot of electrical problems incl an annoying miss in the engine at low revs that never righted. Ford pretty hopeless (they all give trouble scenario!) Not very refined around town at low revs, but open her up and she loves it!
Image
Always enjoyed taking mine out. Looks well in tourmalline green with the standard green window tint, paint chippings now though, needs respray although Autoglym polish really spruces it up!
Comfort
Very nice pumice trim in mine, sunroof gives airy feel, Lockwood white dials look fantastic, cheap, but original looking, supportive seats and enhances good ventilation. Seats are lower than in our 1.1 pushrod and I feel comfortable being over 6ft

Security and Service
Security
Standard immobiliser which saved the car on one occasion. Got a cobra fitted thereafter, no problem since
Service
I live in Ireland, not many XRs around due to crippling insurance, Ford don't deal with many XRs and don't seem to be competent in offering advice on any aspect of the car. They will change a sensor, charge me and the car runs the same afterwards!

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Electrical nightmare for me! Sensor glitches I replaced throtle position sensor, HT leads, fuel filter before the recommended, runs fantastic above 3000rpm, below drivability can be crap, In defense it is a sporty hatch, won't feel like a 1.1 around town
