Ford Fiesta 1.6 XR2i 3d (1991/H) Owner Review

Economy
Value
I personally feel you get a lot of car for your money, with electric windows, central locking, alarm, front heated screen and a sporty image for the price of any other small hatchback on the market.
Costs
It doesn't drink petrol even under quite hard driving, and parts are cheap and the car is easy to work on yourself.

On the road
Driving
The car offers a very sporty ride, the model I bought came with uprated lowered suspension all round with SPAX shocks and springs and uprated bushes too, offering great handling, and a go-kart style feel to driving, not to everyones tastes, but it suits me
Performance
Remembering its an old design of engine, the CVH 1.6 8v is not too bad, 110BHP in standard form and a 0-60 time of 8.9 seconds and 122mph top speed it cannot be critisiced too much for its era when compared with the 205 GTi and Golf GTi 1.6 and 1.8 rivals

Living with it
Reliability
The car (touch wood) has been good to me so far, and will continue to be a good fun and enjoyable car to me in the time I own it.
Image
Has a boy racer image now, which isn't really unfair as that was the target group for the car, you will find other cars will try and race you off the traffic lights and sit right up close behind your bumper, best to ignore them.
Comfort
Standard seats are a bit boring to be honest, and not very supportive for a sporty car, however there are plenty of used Recaro interiors available for not a lot of money to solve this problem.

Security and Service
Security
The standard system is okay, but like any car i've ever owned, a new alarm and immoboliser system was fitted for added security.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
The engine had 60,000 miles from new with all the history for the vehicle, the engine was immaculate and sounded spot on, idled correctly and everything worked as it should do, and has done so far as well.
