Ford Fiesta 1989
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

    Good value considering the BHP.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Running costs are not that bad. Ford dealers are quite expensive considering the level of service they provide.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Steering very heavy (it is quite sharp but far too heavy). Instant power available. No problems in beating everyone at the traffic light sprint. Brakes are superb. Gear change could be a bit better.

    Performance

    5 out of 5 5.0

Superb acceleration. Very tall gear ratios apart from 5th which is geared slightly too low.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    3 out of 5 3.0

Only average. The reliability could be better. I have had constant problems with the engine temperature gauge sensor. The sensors do seem to malfunction on a regular basis.

    Image

    5 out of 5 5.0

I love the style. Some say it looks aged but I think it is one of the best looking cars to date.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very supportive seats. Having the electric window buttons on the centre console does seem a bit silly. The steering wheel should be height adjustable. The dash looks good. The seats should be height adjustable.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    1 out of 5 1.0

Far to easy for car thieves. The doors and looks need to be stronger. All owners must fit an after market device.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

For such a large company, the customer service Ford offers is crap. All their dealers seem to want do is over charge you. Best to take the vehicle to an independent specialist.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

    Other

Just the engine temperature gauge sensor. Clutch could be better weighted.
