Ford Fiesta 1.6 XR2i 3d (2001/X) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Good value purchase price. Costs can however be high should major things go wrong.
Costs
A new clutch was required, which was fairly expensive as it was done through the Ford dealer network. There is a design fault with rust around the petrol cap.
-
On the road
Driving
Poor handling. Lower front suspension arms alway make creeking noises after around 60k. Clunky, sloppy gearchange.
Performance
Good pulling power, but it has to be thrashed to get the best from it. Not as quick as its reputation would have you suggest.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Superb. It has never failed to start or caused any problems, apart from new clutch being needed.
Image
Boy racer image. Despite its design age, the car still looks very fresh.
Comfort
Good seats, but they are too small if you are over 6ft. Headroom is also poor for the tall person.

Security and Service
Security
No real security features aprt from locks! Needs aftermarket equipment.
Service
Poor dealer service. Dealers have poor knowledge of the CVH engine and don't always give correct advice.
