Ford Fiesta 1.8 D Classic 3d (1997/P) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Excellent. Bought second hand, one owner, with a stack of recipts.
Costs
Don't use main dealer, so services are cheap and parts are peanuts.
-
On the road
Driving
Not the best handling car but it can take a thrashing.
Performance
For a non-turbo diesel it's prety nippy.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Bombproof, what more can I say? It's cracked 20,000 miles a year from new and has never broken down. The only problem I had was a failed alternator.
Image
It's a Mk3 Fiesta, so 80s.
Comfort
Not bad. Lacks rear legroom.
-
Security and Service
Security
Crap. The only thing that saves it is the fact it's a mk3 Fiesta diesel and not that high on joyrider's wish list.
Service
Don't use them because they are overpriced, unreliable and their standards are poor.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
A crank seal due to be replaced soon. Other than that, it's bombproof.
Other
Overall, it's been solid. Just a few wear and tear problems, but those were to be expected based on mileage and age.
