  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Grips a lot better with the standard Ford alloys for this model!

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Great, Lively and revvy Zetec engine. Can out-do mate's 1.4 Escort and new 1.2 Corsa. Sticks to road with tyres on the Ford alloys (185 55 r14).

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Never broken down on me. Always started 1st time.

    Image

Better than Mk3 Fiesta. Seen as a bit of an upmarket boy racer (only a bit). Recommend induction kit for the full boy racer effect and/or performance back box exhaust. But don't lower yourself to a pair of lexus lights. :-)

    Comfort

    2 out of 5 2.0

Mmm not best. Ok but usual basic stuff + elec windows and adjustible headlights.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

As I said in other review when I had it 3 months, can be broken into easily but can't be driven away. Invest in reasonable alarm.

    Service

    3 out of 5 3.0

Local dealer helpful but tries to push expensive options that are not needed.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Other

Clutch once stuck to floor when turning right at lights. Sorted due to scored clutch piston under pedal. (Told a common problem that was sorted in the Mk5s). Worn suspension bushes making a squeak noise over spead bumps. Missed in at least one service!
