Everyone who sees my car thinks it's sporty and quite pokey for the engine size.
Would you buy this car again and why?

Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No

£3,500

April 2002

I got a cracking deal, as the car was valued at £5,000 when I originally looked around. Luckily for me I had a brilliant neighbour who went to a car auction for me and bought the car for a snip of the retail value.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it!
What was the dealer like?
A good neighbour who knew a bit about cars, so excellent!

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
My Zetec has a 1.25 16v Zetec-S engine so it really has some poke when you accelerate, which I was quite surprised with being as it is only a little engined car. Around town it's great, as the fuel economy is second to none. Acceleration and cruising on motorways is not too bad, considering it is only a Fiesta. The only minus point is rear seat space for adults, quite often people sit with knees round their ears!
What's it like to park?
Easy - power steering makes it a joy to manoeuvre and you have good visability from the driving seat.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
The only major things to go wrong were rust on the door seals by the wing mirrors underneath the rubbers, and along the door frames, which (reluctantly) Ford agreed to put right under warrenty. Other than that, the infamous coil pack went which was quite a costly part to replace.
What's most practical about your car?
Fuel economy. I drive a 25 mile round trip every day to/from work and the fuel economy is brilliant both round town and on dual carriageways.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
I have a few! Air conditioning - it's a must for the summer, the Zetec-S mesh grille that came with the car was a bonus, sporty alloy wheels and the front fog lights make the car look that much more aggressive.
