Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S 3d (2001/Y) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Certainly wouldn't have paid £11K for it, which is what they were new. We paid £8300 and it was only 5 months old with 1,900 miles.
Costs
Economical, but plenty has gone wrong, necessitating trips to Ford dealer.

On the road
Driving
Handles like a go-kart, but can be a little bit skittish.
Performance
Not bad at all. Revs nicely.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Very poor - lots of electrical faults, leaks, suspension creaks and groans, front fogs mist up. See ZSOC.COM for owner's club - lots of people have experienced a lot of these problems.
Image
Boy racers always try it on, especially Saxo drivers. At the end of the day, it's a Fiesta with a bodykit and a few other tweaks, but I do like driving the car.
Comfort
Cabin cramped and I often get backache unless the seat is set 'just right'. Rear space is appalling.
-
Security and Service
Security
Comes with alarm, immobiliser and remote central locking with electric boot release on fob.
Service
Dealers are appalling, both with this car and a Focus I used to have. They just don't seem interested in finding the problems, let alone fixing them.
