What does this car say about you?

Well at the time, it was that I was a young professional, now its that I need to get something a bit more upmarket.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They all loved it except for the fact that there was another million on the roads. Character wasn't a word that came up often, unless "lack of" preceeded it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, I'm too old now, although the 1.6 TDCi Zetec S, is a compelling buy.

Audi A3, Honda Civic, BMW 1 Series, Volvo C30

Did you get a good deal and why?

All it took was a £200 repair for the panel damage and for that I got the car for £2000 less than list price, bargain!!!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Got the car from an auction. It was very cheap compared to anyhwere else cosidering it was basically new. It had a minor bump on the passengers rear quarter, but this was fixed for very little.

What was the dealer like?

Went to an auction in Preston and had a great experience. Don't buy on your first day though as there are some surprisingly good bargains to be had, you just have to be patient. Also, try to get hold of a programme early on, so that you know whats about to come in to the auction room.

What's it like to drive?

The engine is absolutely gutless and sounds awful throughout the rev range, The car is not particularly well suited to the motorway either. However, the handling is sublime and once the engine is warm and has loosened up (around 20,000 miles), then its a joy to punt down deserted roads (as long as the straights aren't too long).

What's it like to park?

Blissfully easy, except for the mirrors, which due to their odd magnifying properties (some magnify more than others), makes using them impossible.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Plenty of stuff has gone wrong, but thats more down to my fault than the cars. I stress that I have not looked after this car and that it has not been serviced regularly but nevertheless, here is the list of problems I've had: Steering rack bent from parking on kerb Oil sealant broke on gearbox Catalytic converter broke (expensive) Exhaust manifold needs replacing

What's most practical about your car?

Nothing really. I suppose having electric windows is nice.
