Ford Fiesta (2008 - 2017) 1.6 Zetec S 3d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
First time driving this was strange, it was fitted with a short throw shifter so that threw me off a little but didn't take long to get the hang of. Now I actually prefer it to what I guess you'd call a normal shifter.
Acceleration is good considering it's only got around 100bhp yet I've still managed to accidentally wheel-spin it a few times, I still haven't had the chance to try to 0-60 it; I'd hazard a guess it'd be around 9-10 seconds which is above average.
However, if nought-to-sixty times are a serious selling point for you I'd personally go for an ST model of the same year rather than the Zetec S since the ST range provides around 150bhp and a 0-60 of 7-8 seconds stock (but obviously you'll have to fork out much more to afford the ST).
Top speed, if you care for it, is around 130mph but of course I haven't gone that fast because I'm a law abiding citizen (no but really I haven't, the roads near me aren't nearly long or quiet enough).
Overall this car will do what you want it to. It's not as sporty or fast as it's cooler, older and buffer ST brother but it will certainly bring a smile to your face if you've never driven anything remotely sporty, and it will probably still do if you have. I'd highly recommend the 1.6 Zetec S not only for it's looks, performance or quirks but also it's cheap market price and (questionably) affordable insurance for new drivers. that'd run you back around £1000 which, don't get me wrong, is an absurd amount of money but compared to other hot-hatches in the same class like Vauxhall Corsa's and Volkswagen Golf's or Polo's it's relatively cheap. So give it a go, it'll probably end up in your top 3 cars of all time.
How reliable do you find the car?
Car is 8 years old as of this year but only a few problems along the road. Drivers side window alternator went faulty but is an easy replacement at around £50 that I'll fit myself, high rear brake light bulb went which was only £2 at Halfords. Other than that it's been perfect, great car and would recommend to anyone.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Wasn't expecting the stock engine noise to, well, make engine noise; not too loud but it's certainly noticeable when you put your foot down. Was also surprised by the speakers in the car, pretty good bass and sound quality (which is all stock).About their car
