Summary
What does this car say about you?
Hopefully it says that I enjoy driving.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
If anything, the passengers think that it is too quick, 'like being on a race track' they say. All are astonished by the insurance premium for the MP215 spec - 2 Yr NCB, age 28 Fully comp. £370.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I would, but I would also be tempted by an ST3 spec (wasn't available when I purchased mine), for the extra pounds you get a lot more, and will benefit resale value. Mine recently had the Mountune MP215 kit fitted at 12k miles. Personally, for me I do not consider the extra performance worthy at £650 fitted, there is definitely noticeably more power and torque from 3k revs onwards. In the wet the MP215 spoils the car in my opinion, as it is always scrambling for traction with anything less than new tyres. I upgraded as I thought I may see improved pickup from 2k revs, but this hasn't proved noticeable, I only feel the gains when pushing flat-out right through the rev range. I would also consider the Zetec S 1.0 models, as they may well satisfy my needs.
What are you likely to buy next?
At the moment I cannot think of a car that would deliver any extra fun, without costing a great deal more money.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£16,900
When did you buy the car?
March 2014
Did you get a good deal and why?
Price was key, at £16,900 I could not find the same ST2 spec (highest excl. options at time of purchase) in Spirit blue (normally £600 option).
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Saw a few of them around and thought that they would be a lot of fun as a daily driver. Also got a relatively good deal on the car,.
What was the dealer like?
Dealer (Burns Congleton) was perfectly acceptable during handover. Later, the car developed a turbo issue, and during a 'test drive' by the technicians, they 'knocked-out' my wheel alignment - This cost £50 to have another dealer, they said that they would have reset free of charge, but I was too annoyed to the dealer to return again.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
You don't have to drive this car hard to enjoy it, it can offer a relaxed drive just as easily as it can crank up the pace and cover ground quickly. You will notice that the ride can be quite busy when travelling at 30-40mph (harder that I expected), although it doesn't feel crashy or jarring. It is apparently a noticeably stiffer setup than Zetec S models (worth considering if it would bother you).
What's it like to park?
I find it easy enough, although I do very little parallel parking so it isn't an issue anyway.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
As above - minor turbo issue, loose pipe.
What's most practical about your car?
Being a Fiesta, it has comparable space for luggage and people as any other small hatchback. For a sportier model, the fuel consumption is very good, most notably on a motorway run (60-65) where 45+ mpg is achievable.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
There are many fans of the heated seats and windscreen. Personally I like the sync, 'call Laura' - and it does!
