Ford Focus Coupe Cabriolet (2006 - 2010) 2.0 CC-3 2d (08) Owner Review

In their own words
I had a Senior Moment when I bought it....I somehow imagined it would take me back 40 years to my MG convertibles. But my Ford Focus CC3 Convertible (2 litre petrol) is no sports car. It is, however, fantastic fun to drive. The roof is (obviously) MUCH easier to lower and raise than the old MG canvas things and mine doesn’t leak at all. (Early convertibles had serious roof leak problems apparently). It will seat 4 adults although it is a bit cramped in the back. The boot with the roof up is massive and with the roof folded is not that restricted with plenty of usable space. The boot lid is heavy though (a slightly daft design feature is that you have to manually lift and lower the boot lid yourself even though it will remotely unlock and it power locks itself closed .... but there’s no need for this as it’s quite heavy anyway). It’s great to drive with steering and gearbox as you would expect from Ford - light, positive and easy. Fuel consumption (on this model) is not brilliant but what the hell? If you’re after economy buy the diesel. So far (nearly 6 years) it’s been totally reliable requiring only routine bits (brake pads, battery, etc) and some very minor things I could easily fix myself (reversing light switch on gearbox and broken exhaust bracket). All the mechanical bits are standard Ford anyway so very easy to obtain. It’s passed every MOT. The doors are very long....this can be a problem in tight car park spaces. I’m lucky enough to live in Cornwall and when (if?) we get those beautiful sunny summer days and I can drop the roof.......it’s absolutely brilliant. Our elderly dog doesn’t like the roof down. Our grandchildren love it and so do I!
How reliable do you find the car?
I’ve had to replace a broken exhaust bracket and a broken reversing light switch on the gearbox. Very minor issues. Nothing else.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
