Economy
Value
Ours was an 02/52, so udner manufacturer warranty. Never experienced any problems.
Costs
One minor service conducted at our local Ford dealer - who was superb. Costs on a par with VW/ Renault/ Honda - about £170 for minor service.

Driving
Although my wife's car, I did drive it on occasion and found it to be quite fun and responsive. It was more than a surprisingly competant motorway cruiser and definitely a town car. It was enjoyable to drive.
Performance
Surprisingly quick for a 1.6 - I certainly had a renewed respect for the car. Eager in all gears and responsive.

Living with it
Reliability
Good solid car. Nice feel to it, not quite a VW Golf, but still nice.
Image
Might have a slightly 'dull' image - but if you can find a very neat and tidy example, that has been well looked after (or a nearly new bargain) then it will certainly grow on you.
Comfort
The Ghia had plush velous interior with good firm seats. Rear seats were good and no-one ever complained if we went on a long drive. Good driving position.

Security and Service
Security
Disappointed that it only has an immobaliser as standard - Ford want you to pay extra for an alarm. Security was never tested, but would have liked an alarm included given it was 'top of the line'.
Service
Never had any problems with Ford. They came back one very query as promissed and CD Bramall in Milton Keynes were great.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Spritely and lively are the only words I can use. We got 37 MPG regularly in town and long distance.
Other
This was a nice car, perhaps we were lucky and had a good well cared for example. It never had any issues for us and we enjoyed having it. Sold it for a BMW 330 SE.
