Ford Focus Hatchback (1998 - 2004) 1.6 Zetec 5d (01) Owner Review

Fantastic steering feel mean driving experience in more 'analogue', but terrific fun, yet the ride is well-damped and compliant. Performance is fine around town, but in all honesty I'd go for the 1.8 or 2.0 if you need a bit more zip on open roads. Parts are fairly cheap and easy to find although real-world range is more like 300 miles. Equipment is sparse bar late Ghia models (what do you expect from a car that debuted in 1998), although I would recommend finding ST-170 seats and fitting them as they offer additional bolstering and part-leather - you probably won't find a better all-rounder for less than £1000.
