Economy
Value
There are a fair few around now, so haggle to get the best deal.
Costs
Insurance is quite high (what do you expect). Do not hope for much more than 30mpg, 20mpg if you have a lead foot. Service costs are reasonable.

On the road
Driving
Probably one of the more refined in its class. A bit bumpy on the motorway and uneven roads due to large tyres. Nice, sharp gearbox.
Performance
Not the fastest (look for a Civic Type R if that is your priority). Excellent roadholding, though expect to change the front tyres every year. Should keep up with most similar cars.

Living with it
Reliability
Diesel sounding cars have manifold problems. Must warm engine before driving as power is taken from brakes when cold to keep emissions low and also you will blow a fuel injector if only driven for less than 5 minutes.
Image
One of the best looking Fords (not as brash as the RS). Looks the best in Magnum Grey.
Comfort
Excellent, supportive seats in the front. If you are a six-footer, the rear legroom is limited. Hard to get out of the rear in the 3 door version as the front seats do not slide forward.

Security and Service
Security
CAT 1 alarm and deadlocks should stop most thieves. Apparently the alloys are easy to steal.
