Ford Focus Hatchback (2005 - 2011) 1.6 Zetec 5d (Climate pack) Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Having driven many cars I quite like the focus. There are a number of design faults such as rear chassis joints on the rear boot floor which have gaps for rust to bed. Then the turn of the rear arches, but falls short with the inner wing sheild not being as good as it could be and making another rust bed. To give it's dues, it's in good condition regardless but both rear arches have required some work. I've seen a lot worse, but better as my Renault is flawles
The car has the sports and handling package, which I find firm and in great condition considering the miles Carpet alignment around fittings isn't great, but held up. Interior is also held up to use.
Stearing is sharp and handling is good
Engine is fairly good, bit of cam noise, injectors noise and pulls well and the gearbox has held up well.
The fuel line and pump have been replaced. It's a large car with plenty of room and that little bit of fun to drive too. Handles better that the Mondeo, grand scenic, and almost like the fiesta but slightly softer. Oddly the fiesta zetec 1.4 and the focus 1.6 feel about the same in performance, the fiesta slightly more torc due to the lighter body.
Looking over the history of this car it's been fairly trouble free, wipers discs and pads and a bulb. Seal oil leak and rocker cover which is to be expected.clutch has some life left and so .... This is a good car, practical and plenty of space, shame there isn't standard ISO fix installed and for the missing options on this car. It's a cross bread of Zetec S and zetec climate. Why ford don't make a standard car set I don't know why they make them like Lego. No rear discs... Why?Y vectra had higher miles and nicer engine and spec. My Renault seems under powered for the same but a higher spec, I prefer the focus interior. Fords are cheap to own due to parts everything is £20. Or there abouts so you can get good deals on work compared to other cars in the same class. It's a driver's car, family car and a great second car, I'd also suggest the fiesta. Insurance is about the same between my renault, the fiesta and the focus.
Your not going to be massively disappointed and the return and over all costs are good. Did you know the engines can be tuned to 170bhp. He the gear box will cope will be down to the ST range and fords standardised built and production. Watch out for the cars built is south Africa as they have leaks.
How reliable do you find the car?
There are always ford related issues, which how the car came to me. Searching the web they are common issues. Dash cluster fault Drive shaft seal. Rocker leak Oil cap leak. Few electronic issues. But was regularly serviced.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
There is an array or views on the styling, the built to price and of course the issues that come with that. The car is well built in the right places. However checking the dispatch (build) it transpires that the car came without some parts and fittings!! That is concerning. For an older car, there is standards and i have driven many many cars as my own and customer. But then I ran a garage so I look wider at them. There is an array of design issues with the car.About their car
