Ford Focus Hatchback (2005 - 2011) 1.6 Zetec 5d (Climate pack) Owner Review

In their own words
Overall, my Mk2 Focus has been very good. Hasn’t let me down mechanically, and the engine is still very sweet. I do find the 99bhp 1.6 a little lacking at times, but once up to speed is more than capable. Also, 31mpg average around town isn’t very good at all. Gets 42 on a long motorway run. Build quality is a bit off in places, the seals on the doors aren’t always up to the job and can feel a bit plasticky in the interior. However, they are much better built than the Mk1, and they don’t rust anywhere near as much. However, at 6ft 4 I sometimes begin to get achy and tired after Lon journeys and I struggle to get the seat back to a comfy position after someone else has driven it. Heated front windscreen is well worth it on cold winter days, providing it works (which mine does!). I’d avoid anything lower than a Zetec as below this you basically get a steering wheel and some seats. Zetecs begin to get the good stuff (almost all have the climate pack which adds AC and the quickclear windscreen) and Ghia and Titanium add even more toys. Overall, the car has been very good considering I only paid £1500 for it. Can’t really fault it for the money, and it feels like it’ll soldier on for plenty of time yet.
How reliable do you find the car?
Car has had a few things needing to be replaced, but mostly small cheap jobs like an alignment, and new front control arm bushes. Needed a new AC compressor but a £30 job from a local breakers sorted it and I fitted it myself!Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Car drives very nicely. Often keeps up with or leaves faster, more expensive metal on twisty NSL roads. Cruises nicely on the motorway and has swallows the contents of a flat!About their car
